Jyothilal Chess provides online chess coaching led by CM Jyothilal. This policy explains what we do with personal information when you visit this website, send an enquiry, or take part in coaching. If you have any questions, you can reach us at jyothilalchess0@gmail.com.

What we collect

• Enquiry form: the player’s name, country code and phone or WhatsApp number, email address, current playing level, the coaching plan you’re interested in, and your agreement to this policy.
• Messages: anything you send us by email, phone or WhatsApp.
• During coaching: session scheduling details and notes about the player’s progress, such as games played and rating milestones.
• Technical information: basic details that our web host and security tools record automatically, such as IP address, browser type and the pages visited.

How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and arrange the free trial class.
• To deliver coaching, schedule sessions and report progress to students and parents.
• To send you reminders, confirmations and replies about your sessions.
• To run, protect and improve our website.
• To meet any legal obligations that apply to us.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the website and the coaching, and they handle information on our behalf:

• Our web hosting and email providers, who store the website and send and receive our emails.
• Google services, such as Gmail for receiving enquiry notifications and cloud storage for website backups.
• A messaging service, such as WhatsApp, which we may use to alert our team about a new enquiry or to contact you about your sessions.
• Video-call tools used to deliver online sessions.

These providers may process information in countries other than your own. We may also share information where the law requires it. We don’t share your details with anyone else.

Videos, fonts and other third-party content

Some pages show YouTube videos or video thumbnails, and our pages use fonts supplied by Google Fonts. When a page loads this content, the provider can receive your IP address and basic browser details, and they handle that information under their own privacy policies.

Student testimonial videos on this site are hosted by us, and they appear with the permission of the people featured.

Cookies

This website uses only the cookies it needs to work, and we don’t use advertising cookies. Third-party content, such as a video you choose to play, may set its own cookies. If we add analytics or similar tools in future, we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent where it’s required.

Children

Our coaching is open to players of all ages, including children. If the player is under 18, or under the age of consent where you live, please make the enquiry yourself as a parent or guardian, or ask a parent or guardian to do so. We use children’s information only to arrange and deliver coaching, and parents and guardians can ask to see, correct or delete it at any time.

How long we keep it

If an enquiry doesn’t lead to coaching, we keep the details for up to 12 months and then delete them. If coaching goes ahead, we keep records while it continues and for up to 24 months afterwards. Older copies held in website backups are overwritten on their regular schedule.

Keeping information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure connections on this website, password-protected accounts, regular updates and backups. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take care of the information you give us.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you or the player;
• ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
• ask us to delete your information;
• withdraw your consent, or object to how we use your information; and
• complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed, and significant changes will be highlighted on the website.
